Say hello

For anything at all — a reaction to a piece, a question, a disagreement, or just to introduce yourself — email info@readcrucible.com. We read every message. We do not always reply quickly, but we do reply.

Pitch an article

We accept pitches, and the bar is high but not unreasonable. The best pitch is short and specific: read three articles already on the site, write a 200-word outline of what you would want to write, and send it to info@readcrucible.com with the subject line "Pitch: [your topic]". We respond to every pitch, usually within a week. The fuller guidance is on the about page.

Send a field note

A field note is one or two true sentences from inside the work — something learned, changed, or quietly regretted. No polish, no byline. If you learned something the hard way this week, pass it on: email it to info@readcrucible.com with the subject "Field note".

Corrections

If we got something wrong, we want to fix it. Email info@readcrucible.com and we will correct the piece in place with a visible note. How we source and correct our work is set out in the masthead.
