Notes on how Crucible is made.
Who writes Crucible
Articles on Crucible are published under a single editorial byline. The voice is the magazine's — considered, specific, grounded in the work it describes.
This is a tradition, not a hiding place. The Economist has done it since 1843. The Browser does it. Many of the best magazines have treated voice as a collective effort rather than a series of personal brands.
Who we are
Crucible is an independent magazine focused on the MENA startup region — primarily Beirut and across Lebanon, with an eye on the wider Levant and the Gulf. Its remit is the work of building companies: product, growth, operations, money, mindset, and the founders living it.
We publish under one name because the ideas matter more than the résumés attached to them.
How we work
Sources. Concrete claims, dollar figures, and attributed quotes are grounded in primary sources, and we credit and link other outlets rather than passing their reporting off as our own.
Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it in place with a visible note at the bottom of the article showing what was changed and when. We do not silently edit published work.
AI use. Crucible's articles are produced with AI assistance and editorial oversight. The magazine sets the direction, the sources, and the standards every piece is held to.
Editorial independence. Our editorial decisions sit with the editorial team. When an article includes a sponsored placement, a paid partnership, or any commercial relationship that influenced its creation, we label it clearly at the top of the piece. Unlabeled articles reflect the editorial team's independent judgment.
